Art Beats & Lyrics (10/7/11)- Hip Hop lovers gathered at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium in Washington, DC for “Gentlemen Jack presents Art, Beats & Lyrics”, a traveling showcase of urban forums as expressed through music, urban art (painting, graffiti, sculpture and photography), dancing and other original themes. Throughout the night, a line of DC’s “most beautifulist” continuously wrapped the building, anxious and excited to partake in one of the hottest events in the area. That excited energy pushed its way inside and spilled into what this attendee called “a hip hop tsunami”! “Gentlemen Jack” spotlights splashed the walls, bartenders took their posts and the DJ’s began spinning the wheels. Bartenders poured drinks all night. Art displayed against large backdrops polished the floor. “Party people” of all ages and backgrounds mingled, networked and partied. “B-boys and B-girls” had a chance to listen to Hip Hop mixed with several other genres of music, bobbing their heads to the beats and reminiscing on days gone by. The stage welcomed DJ 2 Tone Jones, MeLo-X, DJ Cuzzin B, DJ Lord of Public Enemy, and instrumental fusion band Snarky Puppy. Breakdancers assisted in keeping the crowd pumped and on the dance floor. Great art, great drinks, great energy… #WiseWink to @JabariGraham , Dwayne @Dubelyoo Wright, @artbeatslyrics , Jack Daniels, and @solSource . #WiseWink to Gypsy Soul for the access and to Nocturnal Charm for some photos.
